Óscar Martín Centeno has a degree in History and Music Sciences from the Autonomous University of Madrid. In 2006, he received the “Florentino Pérez-Embid International Award” from the Real Academia Sevillana de Buenas Letras for his first book, Mirrors Faced, published by the publisher Rialp in the Adonais collection. In 2007, he received the “Premio Nacional Nicolás del Hierro” for his second book, Las cántigas del diablo, published that same year. Also in 2007, he won the “Paul Beckett International Award” for his third book, Sucio tango del alma, published in 2008 by the Valparaíso Foundation. In 2010, he received the “Antonio Gala International Award” for his book “Circe,” published by the publishing house Alhulia in 2011.
He has published, as well, the manuals for teachers such as the “Manual of literary creation in the Internet age” (2009) and “Animation to reading through new technologies” (2010).
Centeno participates in numerous anthologies and literary magazines as well. He has published articles in national and international journals and his poems have been translated into English, German, French and Greek.
He coordinates the Poetry Studies Center of the U.P. José Hierro of San Sebastián de los Reyes, as well as the Poetry in the Sphere cycle of the City of Alcobendas. He has obtained several cultural management awards as President of the Asociación Grupo Artístico 8.
He has participated in conferences and interventions at the Autonomous University of Madrid, the Complutense University of Madrid, the University of Liverpool, the University of Almeria, the Ateneo de Madrid, the Círculo de Bellas Artes, the Cultural Aula de la CAM, the Real Academia Sevillana de Buenas Letras, the Rafael Alberti Foundation, the Fundación Fondo Internacional de las Artes, and the Municipal Book Institute. He has worked with associations and companies in the literary field as well as the fields of communication, new marketing, and new technologies. Centeno conducts numerous courses and training cycles for different public and private entities, as well as several official online courses for teachers.
During the last four years Centeno has developed several documentaries and multimedia presentations on cultural and artistic subjects, for entities such as the Reina Sofía Museum of Contemporary Art, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid, the Municipal Book Institute, the City of Málaga, the City Council of San Sebastián de los Reyes, etc. In his documentaries, Centeno uses the latest techniques of 3D animation, kinetic typography and video art.
Centeno has performed poetic recitals where live music and the use of new audiovisual technologies accompany the reading of the verses. His shows have been presented as a new way of understanding and enjoying literature. Centeno’s shows garner excellent reviews, both for literary proposals and his musical and visual creations. He is especially interested in the integration between different artistic languages, as well as in the latest multimedia proposals that are applied to the literary world. As a communicator, he has won several awards for his Internet radio programs, and has developed communication strategies for various agencies.
